In order to select the right type and size of the filter, it is often recommended to perform filtration tests for new applications. The main goal of these filtration tests is to determine the optimal filter media and filtration process conditions.
Sulphurnet recently visited a plant in Chili where such a test was performed. On this site, the client has a quench tower where a liquid is continuously circulated through the tower to cool down and remove the pollutants coming from their process. Over time the cooling liquid did get contaminated, resulting in the blockage of piping and equipment.
For these tests, Sulphurnet brought multiple filter media and performed on-site laboratory testing on all filter media with samples from the field. During and after these tests the performance of the filtration process was constantly monitored by visually inspecting the filtrate clarity, maximum cake buildup on the filter media and cake permeability. Afterwards, we documented our findings and send our recommendations to the client.
